The Institute of Health and Care Sciences conducts education and research focused on care, health, and human life conditions. We educate nurses, radiographers, specialist nurses, and midwives with the goal of meeting society's need for competent and committed healthcare professionals. The Institute is part of the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg and is located on Campus Medicinareberget, directly adjacent to Sahlgrenska University Hospital - an environment characterised by interprofessional collaboration, clinical relevance, and high academic quality. The position is primarily placed within the Section for Care for Long-Term Conditions. The duties are mainly within the department's undergraduate programmes, although teaching and supervision at the advanced level may also occur. When necessary, work assignments may be carried out in collaboration with other sections of the department.

Subject area description
Nursing is based on a humanistic view of the person and encompasses knowledge about human development, health, and well-being in relation to birth, illness, suffering, and death. The aim is to promote a meaningful life despite illness or disability, and to enable a dignified death. The focus of nursing is to relieve suffering, promote health, and prevent illness and disease at the individual, group, and societal levels. Nursing is grounded in needs and problems related to health, illness, and daily life, as well as in people's resources and capacity to manage their life situations.
Duties
The duties include responsibility for and planning of the course Symptoms and Signs of Ill Health in semester 2 of the Nursing Programme. The position also involves teaching and
examination, supervision of theses, and supervision of students during clinical placements.
As course coordinator, the responsibilities include planning courses, developing and aligning learning outcomes, learning activities, forms of examination and assessment criteria in relation
to content, purpose and current educational research, as well as ensuring the quality of education through validated evaluation methods.
Administrative duties related to the educational activities form a significant part of the position.
The role also includes contributing actively to the development of the main subject area and collaborating with the healthcare sector regarding clinical education. Other duties may be
assigned, and the content of the position may change over time.
The position also entails contributing actively to achieving the department's goals and operational plan, which includes working to develop the academic environment within the
section's Complete Academic Environment (KAM). In addition, all staff members are expected to participate in planned joint meetings and activities arranged by the department.
The successful candidate must be able to teach in both Swedish and English.
Eligibility
Eligibility requirements for employment as a teacher are specified in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
Completed higher education at a minimum of the advanced (Master's) level in Nursing, Caring Science, or has equivalent competence or other qualifications of relevance to the subject area and the duties included in the position. Demonstrated teaching proficiency and a Nursing degree are required, as well as a Swedish nursing licence.
Proficiency in both spoken and written Swedish and English is required.
