The section Vehicle NVH & Dynamics CAE is a part of the department Driving Dynamics and Noise & Vibration Centre within Product & Quality at Volvo Car Group. The centre has the responsibility to ensure that all dynamic attributes like Steering, Handling, Ride, Braking, Driver Assistance, Performance, Drivability, Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH) and Sound Quality are supported in the vehicle programs, both in terms of customer and legal requirements. Within the Vehicle NVH & Dynamics CAE section we have the responsibility for leading and support in areas as Roadnoise, Windnoise, Operational Sound Quality, Audio & ANC performance, Interactive Sound Quality, Trimmed Body Acoustics, Ride, Handling and Steering performance from a complete vehicle perspective in research, advanced engineering projects and vehicle programs. The team works integrated in all project phases, contributing with competence, CAE & test analysis and guidelines to improve all attributes in Volvo Cars products.
We are now looking for a highly motivated Technical Leader Trimmed Body Acoustics. The Technical Leader is responsible for defining methods, future strategies, AE/OD work and technological leadership within trimmed body acoustics. It requires a large amount of external contacts, cooperation with universities and global research institutes as well as with other companies.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for scientific and overall AE/OD Trimmed Body Acoustics activities
* Lead development of technical competence and methods within the attribute area and throughout VCC
* Act as a "go to person" for management and leadership support, advice - teach, mentor and coach
* Be the current carrier of cutting edge attribute competence for Trimmed Body Acoustics
* Responsible for the global surveillance including benchmark for Trimmed Body Acoustics
* Secure continuous development of knowledge and competence across Volvo Car Group
* Network with external organizations and peers
* Support Trimmed Body Acoustic NVH performance regarding structure borne and airborne noise and high/mid/low frequencies in projects
* Participate in planning of PhD and M.Sc. thesis work in strategic areas, and externally financed research projects
* Create NVH awareness internally through seminars and courses. Establish and maintain external national and international subject matter expert networks
* Lead to raise the priority of NVH within all VCC customer attributes through awareness and training
* Lead NVH hardware design /compatibility leadership to achieve the most cost effective NVH solutions
* Being an active member of the Section Vehicle NVH & Dynamics CAE Management team
Required qualifications
* Minimum M. Sc., preferably Ph.D. in Mechanical/Vehicle Engineering, Physics or similar
* Minimum 10 years professional experience
* Extensive experience from NVH work within automotive
* Strong record of technical innovation/contribution/leadership resulting in implementation of NVH methods in product development
* Proven ability to gain from leverage of external resources, including universities and industry consortia
* Profound knowledge in CAE and testing
* Business acumen and a proven ability to drive change
* Demonstrated leadership experience
* Fluent in English
* Driver's License B

* Strong in communication, mentoring and interpersonal skills
* Highly driven and results-focused
* Excellent ability to build contacts, both internally and externally
