About us
Volvo Cars is on a fantastic journey with an ambitious target of going fully electric by 2030. Thermal Management is an increasingly important area for BEV's and a key contributor to ensure an energy-efficient vehicle. We are in the middle of this energizing journey - and to further strengthen our team we are now looking for a Technical Expert within Thermal Management, to lead the way towards an even more energy-efficient future.
We are an organization delivering Thermal Management systems to our BEV applications, in present and upcoming platforms. We deliver the hardware building our systems, and software including function, calibration, and diagnostics. Our responsibilities range from early concept phase and advanced engineering, until start of production. We are also responsible for product quality over time.
Our organization today consists of three groups, in total around 75 men and women. We are a diverse mix of people, with different ages, backgrounds, and experiences. We are characterized as an open and friendly group of people where everyone shares their knowledge with each other.
The position as Technical Expert belongs to the group "Thermal System Development" which includes concept phase design work and complete thermal system development from hardware and function perspectives, as well as thermal system CAE. You will work closely to the system architects and system responsibility within our group, as well as being a spokesperson for the Thermal Management area towards the rest of the organization and outside the company.
What you will do
As a Technical Expert, you will play a key role in our electrification journey and be one of the main contributors in defining new research areas and identify key technology steps within the Thermal Management area.
As our Technical Expert you will be responsible for driving knowledge and technology forward. In this position you will interact both internal and external on a global level where you conduct global surveillance, including customer needs and benchmarks to support Volvo Cars with technology and business insight. Your role will as well be to spread and share knowledge by teaching, mentoring, and supporting to safeguard knowledge over time.
You evaluate the academic depth and business relevance on research projects and university projects / thesis works and collaborate with academia and other external organizations through conference attendance and contributions, standardization work and research projects, etc.
What you will bring
To be successful in this role, we believe that you have a MSc or PhD in mechanical engineering, engineering physics or similar.
You have a solid technical knowledge and demonstrated experience from working with Thermal Management systems of road vehicles.
You have demonstrated leadership with previous experience from leading positions within the automotive industry.
You are a recognized "go-to" person who is driven by the willingness to teach / coach / mentor others.
You have a genuine academic interest and thrives in the collaboration between industry and academia. You see synergies between these areas and how this collaboration can lead to industrialization of new technical solutions in the long term.
You have a structured way of working and you are comfortable with summarizing reports etc. and giving presentations to others.
