The European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for two Technical Coordinators. 

Description of position
The Technical Coordination Group will consist of three people and is a support activity reporting to the Director General, working closely with the ESS Science and Machine Directorates and Infrastructure Division. The people working in the Technical Coordination group will be highly motivated and experienced. They will come from the worldwide neutron scattering community and will work with the main goal of ensuring the technical success of the ESS facility. The individuals selected for these positions will be nearing the end of their careers and will draw on their thirty or more years of experience to help the ESS staff, with an average age of 40 years, to solve problems in a timely way and maintain the schedule for constructing the facility.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in engineering or scientific discipline with twenty years experience leading the construction of neutron scattering research facilities.
• Technical understanding of conducting neutron scattering experiments, design and construction of neutron scattering instrumentation, and interface issues in neutron scattering facilities.
• Experience identifying and resolving in collaboration technical issues during a construction project. 
• Highly experienced in the construction of complex research facilities used by scientific user communities.

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.

Start date
The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
