Resilient Supply Network & Project Management (RSN/PM) is a global organization within Volvo Group Purchasing with holistic responsibility for the Product Project portfolio, Volume & Supplier Capacity Planning, Supply Partner Development and Crisis Management. We deliver customer value via end to end product evolution ownership & resilient supply network and we enable the best Performance & Customer Success outcomes while fully coordinating with Volvo Group Technology and Volvo Group Operations and Volvo Brands within an efficient governance structure. We have a data-based proactive supply network management as well as a strong reactive capability - driving industry-leading performance. We use digitalization to Monitor & Develop our suppliers into Trusted Partners, leading to full transparency and proactive visibility of risks during end to end processes.
Resilient Supply Network & Project Management (RSN/PM) Europe being the Strategic steering line for all RSN/PM purchasing activities within Volvo Group Purchasing, we organize a strong collaboration within RSN/PM purchasing teams spread across different sites/regions, and we are also the operational line responsible for RSN/PM Europe business all along specific process steps and areas. The team is responsible to drive end-to-end Purchasing activities whilst securing QDCF-TSR (Quality, Delivery, Cost, Feature, Technology, Sustainability and Risk Management) targets.

What will you do, as Supplier Development Engineer within Powertrain
The job as a Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) is many times challenging and often rewarding. The overall mission is to support the GTP business and buyers with expertise within capacity, cost and lean manufacturing. The function can as well support the coordination of supplier improvement initiatives. As SDE you will take part in activities such as capacity evaluations and expansions, as well as cost improvement and supplier development initiatives. Another important task is to contribute to the continuous improvement of the way we work with our suppliers You will be accountable for developpe the suppliers selected at the right performance with the right quality, at the right capacity and the right cost in order to full fill our expectations and those of our customer. In this sense, we would like to increase the added value from the team with the digitalization activities.
Who are you?
Now you know a little bit about us. We would also like to describe who we think you are, our new colleague. Since we don't know you yet we probably won't have everything right, but when we imagine you, we believe that you have an eye for details but also a good general understanding of the situation, being able to make assessments and focus on the right areas. You should also be a good communicator and a multicultural team player, both internally Volvo and also towards the supplier management team since communicating and working with others is what this job is about. You are an expert, agile and able to jump from capacity to cost or to lean manufacturing subjects.
What is your background?
A university degree within engineering or several years of technical experience.
Knowledge/skills in capacity, lean and cost management.
Experience of working with significant independence.
Project managerial experience.
Car driving license.
Good English communication skills, orally and in writing, plus local language.
Experience of a structured approach with good analytical skills, logical thinking and strong problem-solving abilities.
Strong organizational, time management and continuous improvement skills.
The preventive mindset with leadership to solve problems and to make decisions.
Ability to create networks and lead cross-functional activities within multi-cultural teams.
Nice to have:
Something that definitely would be great if you have, but that's not a requirement, is if you have any experience from Production System work within an automotive business or have knowledge of automotive Production System standards and tools, such as VOC & Lean manufacturing.
