Your team
the SAM team (Survey, Alignment, and Mechanical stability) is part of the Engineering I group, responsible for providing support for the accelerators and the beamlines within the survey, alignment, and mechanical stability fields.

MAX IV is looking for a summer worker, who will be an assistant to the SAM team during the summer shutdown of MAX IV.
The summer worker will participate in the 2024 summer shutdown activities. The work requires focus, patience, and attention to details. The tasks are hands-on and involve being able to work in tight spaces. The summer worker will gain experience in survey and alignment techniques, experience in operating laser trackers, as well as basic knowledge about MAX IV machine and beamlines.
Full time: 100% starting from 17 June and ending 16 August (both included).
Your main work tasks will be
- Survey of the network in different parts of MAX IV machine and beamlines using laser tracker.
- Alignment and realignment of components in MAX IV machine and beamlines.
To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications
- The applicant must have studied for at least two years in an engineering degree.
- The work will be hands-on and needs working in a team.
- Good command of English speaking, writing, and understanding.
Below are seen as merits
- Practical experience of working with accelerators or equipment related to synchrotron light research.
- Hands-on experience in surveying or alignment.
- Hands-on experience working with coordinate measurement instruments such as CMM, laser tracker, and theodolite.
As a person you are taking initiative, flexible, able to cooperate and service-minded.
You must be a minimum of 18 years.

MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. It will receive up to 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.
