About this opportunity:
E2E Packet Core network architecture covers the full core network in a wider sense including EPC , 5GC and 6G architecture, network deployment and interworking with other network domains.
Knowledge and insight in current and target 5GC & EPC functionality are expected, both from a 3GPP standardization as well as product perspective.
Deep understanding about the interworking between 5GC & EPC with external systems is needed, for example: RAN, IMS, AF, etc.
We need a specialist in this domain to protect and represent the packet core portfolio strategy, industry forums and to support the BCSS with technical expertise.
What you will do:
This specialist position mainly focuses on packet core network architecture, protocols and signaling, and interworking with surrounding domains (e.g. RAN, UE, CS/IMS, OSS, AF, non-3GPP access, etc.) The Specialist position shall provide competence and knowledge on packet core network application interworking from E2E perspective.
Leadership:
* Advise and provide solutions and network functions requirements to packet core product and solutions based on 3GPP standards and market requirements.
* Advise and provide solutions in regional standardization and customer engagements according to Ericsson strategies and product roadmap.
* Support technology leadership through leading, proposing and participating in technology leadership activities.
* The position holder should work as a competence builder to maintain and build own competence in the area of packet core network functionality and interworking. He/she shall also spread this competence within the Packet Core organization with relevant methods (meetings, courses, seminars).
Vice versa, the position holder should also investigate and realize opportunities using latest network architecture technology.
Innovation:
Drive and participate in innovation activities aimed to provide the best solutions for Packet Core Network functionality, interworking and architectures. If possible, innovations shall be patent protected.
Networking, relationships:
* The success of network functionality is very dependent on that all parts of the offering are working well together. It is very important that the Sr Specialist coordinate solutions and technology choices with applicable parts of Ericsson, e.g. the area responsible within SA/PDU, other PDUs e.g. PDU cloud, the MA & CU portfolio and solution teams, etc. The Sr Specialist shall actively maintain a contact network and relationship with other organizations.
* It is preferable if the Sr Specialist also has a network outside of Ericsson with relevant functions in operators, different standard communities and counterpart in other vendors.
Competence:
* The Sr Specialist shall build own and others competence within the specialist area. This shall be done by providing mentoring, workshops and seminars.
Customers:
* The Sr Specialist is expected to support customer activities such as customer technical spec definition, regional standardization and tender support.
The skills you bring:
* Packet Core network architecture, including functional division between Packet Core and other domains
* Relevant protocols and signaling procedures, network design patterns and deployment scenarios for packet core network
* Standardization and industry collaboration skills
* Good understanding of how packet core is designed and deployed in commercial operation
