ISH was established in 1995 to answer a growing demand for truly international education at the Primary and Secondary levels. Today, we have approximately 800 students between 3 and 19 years of age attending our Pre-school, Primary School, Middle School and Diploma Programme following the International Baccalaureate curricula. Our students and teachers come from more than 30 different countries.
Our Pre and Primary schools are located in our own building at Östra Vallgatan 9. Our MYP program is located on a separate campus at the Nicolai school on Studievägen 2. These programmes offer an alternative for international families who are residing in the Helsingborg region on a temporary basis, or for those moving overseas for work assignments. Our Diploma Program is also located at Nicolai school and is an excellent choice for all students, Swedish or International, looking to further their studies abroad or in Sweden once they graduate. The aim of our school is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.
Publiceringsdatum2019-11-06ArbetsuppgifterA specialist in learning support who will work collaboratively with subject teachers, other special needs teachers and assistants in supporting student's needs, working with small groups or one-to-one, both in and outside the classroom.
A central part of the role of a special needs teacher is to support other subject teachers in differentiating curriculum material, help with mapping students needs (pedagogisk kartläggning) as well as helping mentor and subject teachers in creating and revising action plans (åtgärdsprogram). Special needs teachers and assistants in the programme meet each week and also communicate with other specialists within the student welfare team (elevhälsoteam) which meets every other week to discuss and make decisions on students of concern. This position will be advertised initially at 80% however there will be some scope for a full-time position in the future.

The MYP with approximately 250 students, is part of the whole school International Baccalaureate Program continuum at the International School of Helsingborg, and as such, is grounded in conceptual, inquiry-based learning. This role requires you to work closely with the MYP staff to ensure that our students are supported in order to meet the IB requirements.
At ISH, we understand that highly effective schools focus on student outcomes and understand that professional learning is the core lever for improving student learning. We have active professional learning communities whose aim is to work collaboratively through a teacher evaluation model so as to purposefully impact student progress.
About You
You possess a degree with the field of special educational needs and have strong experience working within the school system.
It is a requirement for the candidate to be fluent in English, both in speaking and writing. The successful candidate will be a strong team player and have the ability to work collaboratively with co-workers as well as students and parents. You communicate proactively; support and care for others. It will be of great advantage to have experience of the IB system and also to have previously worked within the international school system.
As a person, you are a positive, open-minded and flexible team player. You must demonstrate enthusiasm, warmth and strong interpersonal skills with children, parents, and colleagues and be committed to diversity and multicultural educational practices.
