Who are we?
Volvo Group's global truck technology and product development organization is responsible for technology research, engine development, product design and all the technology and product development linked to truck operations, as well as supporting the products in the aftermarket.
The organization has 7,000 employees working in global teams with focus on delivering world-class engineered products and services. We are now looking for innovative, committed individuals to join us in our endeavor to create solutions that enhance safety, flexibility and productivity.
The newly formed Vehicle Combination Motion group within the Vehicle Technology organization is responsible for vehicle motion coordination, control, diagnostics and fault handling in our vehicle platform. We have a special focus on self-driving vehicles and therefore interact closely with our colleagues at Volvo Autonomous Solutions.
Position description
As a Software Engineer, at the Vehicle Combination Motion group, you will specify, design and implement safety related functionality for one of our ECUs. The functionality you develop will be used at customers for both public road and confined area solutions. Safety and quality will thus be of highest importance in your work.
In your position you will gain a detailed understanding of the end functionality and system setup, including detailed understanding of the hardware and software components we are using. The knowledge you gain will be a key factor when designing and implementing safe and high-quality software.
As the group is still a young organization you will have the opportunity to influence our methods, tools, and way of working within the functional safety area.
You can look forward to an inspiring journey together with enthusiastic and professional colleagues throughout the Volvo Group organization. It is important that you enjoy working with new technology and take part in continuously improving our ways of working. We would also like for you to contribute to a great team spirit.
Qualifications
As you will be working with new technology, it is preferable that you have broad experience in product development within relevant engineering areas. You should know what it takes to bring software from prototyping to a product.
Functional safety often comes down to working in a structured way, with an eye for details. For this position we are looking for someone with that mindset.
You will have the opportunity to work with different cultures cross functionally, with internal as well as external stakeholders. Good communication skills are therefore appreciated. Being fluent in English, spoken and written, is also important to succeed in this position. Other requirements that we also see as beneficiary for the role are:
Experience from development of embedded systems.
Experience from working within a safety standard development process, such as ISO 26262
Experience from working with software architecture and design.
Excellent knowledge about C programming for embedded systems.
Good knowledge about hardware and interfaces commonly used within Automotive applications.
Experience from troubleshooting, both software and hardware.
We are actively working to establish teams that will take maximum advantage of the strength inherent to differences in knowledge, experience, age, gender and nationality, among others. We find that well balanced work teams increase group dynamics, creativity and new approaches to solutions.
