Join our team in Stockholm as a Customs Compliance Senior Manager. Provide expert guidance on customs and trade matters for our manufacturing sites and distribution hubs in Sweden. This role is part of the Indirect Tax function, reporting to the Regional Customs & Trade Lead for EMEA, and collaborating with Regional and Local Customs and Trade Managers in the US, APAC, and EU.
Here you will experience a fast paced and agile environment as we continue to support the business on a journey of evolution and growth, driven by new, exciting technology and digital innovations. It's challenging and sometimes demanding, and that's why we love it.
Accountabilities:
The Customs Compliance Senior Manager will serve as the primary contact for customs and trade issues for our Swedish operations teams. You will supervise daily activities related to approved customs authorizations, such as AEO and IPR, and act as the principal liaison with Swedish Customs authorities, leading audits as needed.
As a specialist, you will support global distribution teams with customs requirements for both imports and exports, and handle customs facilitations, including the setup of new brokers and the acquisition of deferment licenses. You will find opportunities to improve customs processes while ensuring compliance with local guidelines, assess risks, and propose solutions to prevent reoccurrences. Collaboration with customs brokers is crucial for the clearance of goods in Sweden, including those under special procedures.
The role also includes performing periodic reviews of customs declarations and records to maintain compliance and optimize customs-related activities. Additionally, you will analyze proposed customs legislation that could impact AstraZeneca and collaborate with Operations, R&D, and Finance teams to address customs-related challenges. Lastly, you will design and deliver training sessions on critical customs and trade topics for key stakeholders.
Essential Requirements:
* In-depth knowledge of customs law, including areas such as valuation, origin, classifications, and regimes.
* A degree in Finance or Business with a focus on International Trade is preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
* Strategic mindset with meticulous attention to detail.
* Proven ability to develop operational customs capabilities, including audits and dispute resolution.
* Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, especially in complex or uncertain situations.
* Proficiency in Swedish is required.
Skills and Competencies:
* Extensive experience in customs and trade, including knowledge of customs laws for global supply chains.
* Strong analytical skills with proficiency in MS Excel; Power BI experience is a plus.
* Effective problem-solving, decision-making, and planning abilities.
* Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
* Proven ability to build and manage relationships with external partners and collaborate with teams across the UK, Sweden, and the US.
* Familiarity with the pharmaceutical supply chain is an advantage.
