The unit of Occupational Therapy (https://www.gu.se/en/neuroscience-physiology) has a creative research environment and broad collaboration with inter-professional research groups nationally and internationally. The research focuses on the relation of everyday activities to health throughout different age range, from children to elderly persons. Research groups at the unit are TIDAS research group focusing on methods to early identify, treat and support people to maintain their work capacity and decrease the need for sick leave. ProDo research group focusing on the process of occupation among children, adolescents and adults with disabilities due to neurological problems. The unit also works closely with the research group FRESH, which focuses on health in everyday life among older people. At the unit and in the research groups, we have postgraduate students, junior and senior researchers with a broad expertise that includes knowledge of medicine-, health-, social- and occupational science, as well as the ability to conduct qualitative research, RCTs, epidemiological studies and instrument development.

Subject area description
Occupational Therapy is based on occupational science, which encompasses the knowledge and the study of the individuals' activity and occupation, their ability to use time and environment in physical, social and cultural contexts. Furthermore, occupational science includes the knowledge of human engagement, the desire and ability to have and take control of everyday life activities. Occupational science also covers knowledge of the importance of habits, lifestyle and the environment for activity. Based on the complex meaning of the individual's activity and occupation, Occupational Therapy relates to the humanities, to medicine, natural sciences, social sciences, and technological knowledge areas.
Duties
The position consists of teaching at the Occupational Therapy programme and through professional experience and research contribute to the development of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy. The main tasks are theoretical and practical teaching of students in Occupational Therapy at undergraduate, master' s and postgraduate levels where the applicant's professional experience will be applied in relevant teaching. The position entails independent course responsibility, course planning, examinations, administrative tasks, as well as following the knowledge development of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science. The position includes conducting research that contributes to the development of the research subjects of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science, being a member of or leading a research group, independently producing scientific articles, and applying for external funding. Supervision of postgraduate students may be included.

Teaching and lectures will be held in Swedish as well as in English.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for employing teaching staff are set out in the Higher Education Ordinance and in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
A completed doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy or Occupational Science or other subject that the employer deems equivalent for the position is a requirement. Further requirements are demonstrated teaching skills, degree of bachelor of science in Occupational Therapy and the ability to teach in Swedish and English.
Assessment criteria
The assessment criteria for employing teaching staff are set out in the Higher Education Ordinance and in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
When assessing the application, firstly scientific research and pedagogical competence will be valued equally. Secondly professional skills and the ability to cooperate and communicative skills will be valued.

The scientific skills will be assessed by evaluating the quality of the applicant's publications in peer-reviewed journals, research grants obtained in competition, being a research group leader or being a member of a research group. Experience of supervision at postgraduate level is favorable.

In assessing pedagogical skills, the ability to teach, plan, implement, examine, and evaluate teaching as well as to supervise in Occupational Therapy will be considered. The skills must be well documented in a way that makes it possible to evaluate the quality of teaching at the undergraduate level and/or master's level.
Professional skills will be assessed through documented work as an occupational therapist, education and specialization within a subject area, documented participation in development work that can contribute to the pedagogical work and the development of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science.

In the assessment, communication skills and the ability to work in a teaching team environment and be competent in both written and spoken Swedish and English will be considered.
