At the School of Education, Culture and Communication our students are studying to be for example preschool teachers, teachers, special needs teachers, communications officers, language consultants, mathematicians and chamber musicians. Here we have the research specialisations of Educational Sciences and Mathematics. Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with preschools, schools, banks and companies, municipalities and public authorities in the region.

The School of Education, Culture and Communication (UKK) is responsible for the subject of English within the teacher training programmes for example, as well as the Bachelor's programme in Language and also the International Marketing programme. The subject also offers freestanding courses within the main field of study up to the Master's level, as well as courses specialising in academic writing and business communication.

Position description
The School of Education, Culture and Communication invites applications for a post as Senior Lecturer in English with specialisation in Comparative Literature and/or Subject Didactics.
The post includes teaching in freestanding courses and courses in the Teacher Education programme as well as the Communication programme in English. The post also includes planning and administration. Subject to appropriate qualifications, school visits may also be included in the duties.

Qualification requirements
Applicants qualified for a senior lectureship will have demonstrated teaching skills, hold a degree of Doctor linked to the above work duties, or have equivalent academic skills or other professional skills of importance to the subject content of the appointment and the work duties included in the post.<0}

The qualification requirements for appointment as a Senior Lecturer are both documented teaching skills and also a degree of Doctor, or equivalent academic competence or other professional qualifications of significance with regard to the subject content of the appointment and the duties included in the appointment.

To be qualified for appointment as a Senior Lecturer the applicant must have demonstrated the academic skills and teaching abilities required for the appointment. Academic skills may also have been demonstrated by the ability to achieve results in research through cooperation in joint projects of benefit to academia and industry/the public sector/society in general and through the ability to disseminate research.

The assessment of teaching skills shall apply to the planning, carrying out and evaluation of teaching as well as supervision and examination. Teaching skills shall be well documented in such a way that their quality can also be assessed.

The applicant should have completed ten weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. A person appointed as a Senior Lecturer but lacking training in higher education teaching and learning will be offered in-house training during the first year. The course in higher education teaching and learning at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.

Assessment criteria
In general terms the assessment criteria shall be based on the ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to fulfil the duties well.

The same attention shall be paid to the assessment of teaching skills as to the assessment of academic skills.

Decisive importance is attached to personal suitability. We value the qualities that an even distribution of age and gender, as well as ethnic and cultural diversity, can contribute to the organisation.

Merit
A broad experience of research and teaching within the subject are considered to be of merit. Of particular merit is if the applicant has experience of teaching and research in comparative literature and subject didactics. Experience of teaching English language proficiency and academic writing, supervision, school visits and Swedish-English translation are considered as additional merits.
