The Department of Design is located in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, one of Linnaeus University's five faculties. We build complete academic environments in which the interplay between education, research and collaboration acts as a catalyst for quality improvements and sustainable development in society at large.

Design is a powerful force for change and for the development towards a sustainable society. At the Department of Design, we offer programmes and courses which provide the student with a sound knowledge of design and a solid foundation in the field of sustainability.

Competence and practical experience of research and work in the field of contemporary design as change making is considered a particular merit, including an engagement with relevant critical and theoretical frameworks in the broad remit of sustainability, norm-criticism and the ability to work across practice and theory.

As an employee you will follow and support the development of design practices and associated disciplines such as design history and theory, with special emphasis on sustainability and social engagement.

Assessment criteria
We consider the following assessment criteria to be of high priority:
The proficiency required for the position's eligibility requirements shall constitute the assessment criteria for the appointment of a Senior Lecturer. The examination of pedagogical proficiency will be given the same weight as the examination of artistic ability.

The Department of Design has a focus on social engagement and sustainability, and we consider the practical experience of design work focussing on different perspectives on sustainability to be of great advantage. The applicant must also have well-documented experience of teaching on artistic design degrees, a familiarity with relevant critical and theoretical frameworks, and a keen interest in developing critically informed perspectives on contemporary and emerging design practices. Experience of course and programme coordination on under- and postgraduate level is also considered an advantage.
