What do we offer
If you are passionate about Electrification and want to contribute to the transformation of Volvo Cars into a sustainable car industry? Then the role as Senior HW Design Engineer within the Charging team is the place for you to prosper.
The company target is to electrify 10% of the cars in 2020 and to have 1 million electrified cars on the road in 2025. The team are responsible for the development of competitive charging solutions for on-board charger and DC/DC. Here you get the chance to work at the core competence centre in Northern Europe in regards to Charging solutions!
The on-board charger (OBC) is essential for electrified vehicles, it holds the functionality to charge the traction battery from the grid, and it is for sure of highest importance in a pure electric vehicle. Both AC- and DC-charging are in current projects and wireless charging is already around the corner. The DC/DCs coverts energy from the traction battery to the low voltage system for suppling all the 12/48V power consumers in the car.
What you'll do
As a Senior HW Design Engineer you will work alongside with suppliers in order to bring new solutions for OBCs and DC/DC to market utilizing the latest technology in a fast paced and international working environment. The work includes contacts with other engineering departments, CAE teams and manufacturing engineering within our company as well as with external suppliers.
Your key tasks:
* Review and support the development of design of electrical HW components, e.g. OBCs and DC/DCs
* Balance and optimize electrical HW design against electrical requirements
* Manage supplier contacts with regards to timing, technology and cost
* Optimize packaging of components and participate at package meetings for resolution of mechanical conflicts and clearances issues
* Manage and Lead the team's hardware deliveries according to Volvo Cars release process.

You are passionate about electrification of cars and have the ability to inspire others to work together to reach the goal! You will cooperate with people in different positions internally as well as externally; therefore, it is crucial that you are a good communicator.
To success, we see that you need to be structured and have good documentation skills. We appreciate integrity, courage and energy!
Qualifications:
* At least BSc degree in Electrical engineering or similar
* Experience working as an electrical design engineer in automotive industry
* Fluent in English (written and spoken)
* Driver's license (B)
* Meritorious; Knowledge of EMC and shielding, power electronics or connector systems
We are moving into an agile environment and your input on this way of working will be of value for us. If you had the role as team lead or similar before, it would be a benefit, as well as previous experience from Volvo Cars development process.
