Volvo Energy is our newest business area with the overarching purpose of supporting the Volvo Group's transformation ambitions within electrification, sustainability, circularity, complete service offer, profitable growth and resilience.
We are now looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. Battery Optimization and Monitoring - Technology is a function within Volvo Energy that works with second life applications of vehicle battery packs, monitoring and data analytics, optimization of remaining useful life, battery safety and new offerings for stationary Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
Working in very close cooperation with our colleagues from Volvo Group and especially Group Trucks Technology, we create new business offer opportunities as well as value propositions.
What are we looking for in this specific role?
Stepping into this role, you will be the cornerstone of our product development team. You will be responsible for designing and integrating advanced energy storage solutions that harness the power of Volvo Group batteries. Your role will leverage strategic partnerships and your technical expertise to lay the engineering foundation to bring our battery energy storage systems to life.
Your starting point will be:
* Design tailored electrical drawings, including single line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams, specifically for stationary battery energy storage systems.
* Effective cross-functional coordination between engineering and production teams to ensure seamless integration of electronic systems into stationary battery energy storage systems.
* Manage essential documentation, including short circuit, load flow, and arc flash analysis for accurate record-keeping.
* Create and review electrical equipment specifications, data sheets, purchase requisitions. Conduct feasibility studies/bid evaluations for critical components like inverters, switchgears, transformers, and other required equipment for stationary battery energy storage systems.
* Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices in electronic design for stationary battery energy storage systems, such as functional safety standards, EMC/EMI requirements.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for power systems and define scopes of work for project designs and study proposals.

What are the qualifications likely required to be successful?
* You hold at least a bachelor's within electric power, renewable engineering or related field.
* At least 5 years of experience in electrotechnical design and power system operation and control.
* You have worked with control and protection, preferable within stationary battery energy storage systems or similar.
* Proficiency in electrical system design, studies, protection/control, and grounding.
* Hands-on experience and participation in commissioning and testing of electric power systems is advantageous.
* Expertise in the design, engineering, and construction of stationary battery energy storage systems is highly meritorious.
* Familiarity with European codes, standards, and regulations pertaining stationary battery energy storage systems and the components within; knowledge of North American codes is advantageous.
* Fluent in English for effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders.
