Electrical Distribution System (EDS) are responsible for developing the technical solutions for physical implementation of the electrical distribution system, the wiring and the wiring components, in all vehicle lines within Volvo Cars. The group EDS components and CAE are responsible for components included in the wiring harness deliveries such as distribution boxes, cable channels and connectors, including the inlets for HV vehicles. They are also responsible for the CAE tools used by EDS' suppliers and for CAE support.
EDS components and CAE are responsible for several different components made by different materials such as plastic, rubber and metal. As a Senior Design Engineer you are responsible for the design of the build to print components owned by the group and you will work closely with the lead engineer and the supplier. The role also includes concept studies and the initiation of component development. You will work with several different components and materials that could broaden your expertise. The work also includes a close relationship with several different suppliers in many countries which gives you useful connections for the future.
Main responsibilities
* Design of EDS components
* Create drawings and models of EDS components using CHS and CATIA V5
* Keep contact with suppliers regarding updates and changes
* Handle and determine possible redesigns to solve issues found in testing
* Review designs made by suppliers and colleagues
Required qualifications
* University degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
* Well versed in Volvo Cars product development process
* CATIA V5 experience
* Fluent in English, both written and spoken
* EDS work experience is meritorious
* KDP experience is meritorious
* Teamcenter experience and CHS experience is an asset
Personal qualities
* Good communication skills
* The ability to cooperate and work within a team
* Structured with high analytical skills
