The department Propulsion Transmission Systems is design responsible for manual and automatic gearboxes, driveline and All Wheel Drive (AWD) system within Volvo Car Group. We lead the development within our area in hybrid and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) as well as conventional powertrains. The department is working with in-house design and manufacturing on EFAD (Electric Front Axle Drive) and ERAD (Electric Rear Axle Drive) within the electrification area we are responsible for the whole development chain of design, CAE and physical verification.
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be a part of a small team creating new transmission concepts and be responsible for the design of components and subsystems in new projects. As the team is young and newly formed, so an important role is the mentorship of other design engineers and be the "go to" person.
Main responsibilities
* Work in cross-functional teams and develop solutions that fulfil design prerequisites and the company's standards
* Responsible for technical documentation
* Revise drawing specifications and technical regulations made in the team
* Verify the solution and recommend changes of the design regarding technology, quality, service, environment, market adaptation and rationalisation
* Transfer of knowledge to Design Guidelines, Design Prerequisites and Technical Regulations
* Work closely CAE and testing engineers when making the verification plan.
Required qualifications
* B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* Experience and a genuine interest in product development within the mechanical area
* Minimum 5 years of experience from development of automotive transmissions, preferably within the car industry
* Excellent skills in design, Catia V5, Tce
* Experience in working in close cooperation with suppliers and manufacturing is an advantage
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
* Driving license B

* Passion for cars - from a customer and technical point of view
* Good communication and social skills
* Ability to build relationships and networks
