Description
The customer is looking for a Senior Data Engineer with a strong data warehouse and data modelling profile. We are looking for someone who can manage a blue ocean implementation of a Synapse based data warehouse solution with strong focus on self service and end user usability.
This role involves working with stakeholders to identify the required architecture, (technical) data governance, and technical considerations associated with a Data Warehouse implementations for a large enterprise organization. It will involve producing technical documentation and providing advice that will cover the various aspects of the rollout, including but not limited to; best practice tenancy considerations, workspace structures, data modelling, access control structure and measures and enablement of data government enforcement.
The Data Platform is moving into the next phase where focus shifts from accumulation and ingestion of data into the Data Lake to serving the consuming Stakeholders with data and to provide a self-service capability. This addresses a pressing need where Stakeholders at present on a weekly basis requests access to data where the current architecture and staffing cannot provide any service.
The team setup suggested in this document will primarily focus on architectural tasks at hand and the build-up of capabilities of the Data Platform - not to serve individual Stakeholders with specific data ad-hoc.
Work tasks:
• Enable a Self-Service architecture promoting "data at your fingertips" for all users
• Deliver a portal like entry point for Business Users and Business Analysts acting as an Experience Hub for data driven decision making
• Serve consuming Stakeholders with easy to use and well documented data model(s), in adherence to the customer 's Enterprise Data Model using DWH-technologies.
• Serve consuming External Stakeholders with the possibility to connect via API
• Address the non-functional requirements and governance:
• DevOps and CI/CD
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements from a tech standpoint
• Support the future addition of Data Governance-capabilities (in addition to or replacing the POC:ed Microsoft Purview)
Mandatory competence and experience:
• High proficiency in designing, developing, integrating, and deploying cloud based enterprise Data Warehouse solutions
• Databricks
• Data Factor
• Azure Synapse Analytic
• Data Ware housing
• Data Modeling (both traditional and DW-oriented)
• SQL Query optimization & tuning
• Azure DevOps CI/CD
• Data Governance (technical enforcement and implementation)
• SQL
• DAX
Preferred competence and experience:
• Power BI
• Spark / Kafka
• 7+ years of experience in hands on DWH and
• 5+ years experience in Azure
• 5+ years of experience in architecting and implementing DWH
• Experience in working with classified data and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in using and possibly implementing Data Governance-tools in a DWH setting.
