What you'll do
As Senior Audio Specialist for Audio Performance you will get the opportunity to work closely with many different areas. One of your most important tasks will be good communication with the different stakeholders; CAD engineers, cost concerned managers, purchasing, designers or customers. You will combine many viewpoints and take all input into account when developing strategies for everything related to the playback of sounds in the vehicle cabin. The performance aspect of audio is just one important point, but aspects such as design, brand impression, marketing story, differentiation etc. are also very important aspects that needs to be carefully considered.
You will be a leader involved in everything that affects audio performance, from door construction, speaker design to DSP development. You will benchmark competitors, evaluate customer feedback, develop methods for measuring audio systems and for performing listener evaluations, all with the aim to gather and present a holistic view of relevant audio trends to Volvo internal stakeholders.
Your Competence
We see that you have a university degree in the field of electronic engineering, computer science or acoustic engineering combined with several years of experience from automotive and electronics engineering. Similar experience within consumer audio, professional audio our audio engineering is also of interest.
You have extensive experience of audio hardware such as loudspeaker design (small and large signal considerations), power amplifier design, digital design (DSP, CPU, FPGA) and considerations. You have knowledge within acoustics from working with small space cabin acoustics, diffraction, comb filtering, modal behavior etc. You will also need knowledge within system architecture design both latency critical and real-time system design.
You will also need competence in below areas:
• Audio industry: Music production and/or mastering, speech processing, spatial audio, consumer audio and Hi-fi considerations.
• Audio signal processing: IIR, FIR filtering, time and frequency domain techniques, Ambisonics, VBAP, or similar.
• System testing and measurements: acoustic, electronic and/or various measurement standards.
• Matlab, Max MSP, DSP programming/scripting experience

You share our passion for audio, quality and cars! You enjoy taking responsibility for many tasks at once and can independently plan, manage, and monitor your work towards a global goal. You enjoy project work and strong communication skills will be crucial.
You have an analytical and structured approach. You are comfortable to summarize and present the status of your work to different audiences. You are always ready to compromise, negotiate and find the correct balance between cost, performance, design considerations and other attributes.
You enjoy exploring new areas finding answers where your experience is still limited and you are above all a team player who puts the team goals and development first and enjoy sharing and educating as well as learning from your fellow team members.
