Description
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for accounting and corporate banking with a focus on accuracy and process improvements. This position will also be responsible in the monthly financial close process including preparation of journal entries, monthly audits, and reconciliations. Ability to understand balance sheet accounts and ensure that accounting transactions comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
This position will support and provide documentation for internal/external audit inquiries; assist in making process improvements/accounting changes; and provide on-going support for various finance teams. This position performs back-up responsibilities as required within the General Accounting Group. Individual should enjoy working outside the box and challenging the organization with new ideas and a fresh perspective.
Main tasks:
• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare and/or review necessary journal entries for properly stated financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
• Monthly closing for Group Reporting under US GAAP and local GAAP including responsibility for the monthly closing package
• Prepare and/or review monthly account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts ensuring financial records are maintained in compliance with company policy. Review, investigate, and resolve accounting errors, discrepancies, and reconciling items.
• General ledger postings and VAT declaration
• Make recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures
• Preparation and processing of payment orders
• Document and coordinate the implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures and modify it as necessary
• Cash Management
• Intercompany reconciliation
• Ensure overall Sarbanes-Oxley-Act compliance for general accounting
• Accounts Payables Back-up tasks: verify approval on all invoices, and check / wire requests; Code invoices with appropriate projects, general ledger coding accounts and cost centers; Update and maintain vendor database; Process and enter invoices; audit and verify expenses reports
• Documentation of the processes, for example closing check list
• Identify productivity improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Acts as a resource in the training of other team members; provide back-up support as needed
• Through collaboration and teamwork, continues to leverage company-wide resources via further migration of the Global Finance Operations model
• Special projects and create ad-hoc reports and analysis as required
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 4+ years related experience and/or training
• Min. 4 years of experience in financial accounting in an international environment required
• Public audit experience a plus
• Experience with sophisticated ERP system (SAP FI and Cognos a plus).
• Fluency in Swedish and advanced English in writing and speaking
• Working knowledge of GAAP and SOX
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and do what it takes to meet deadlines
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Communicative person / Team-Player
• Experienced to work under pressure within the monthly closing process
