hela Sverige AstraZeneca Gothenburg is expanding within the area of Materials and open up for multiple roles within the areas of solid state, materials science and polymer science. This is a unique opportunity for enthusiastic, innovative and motivated scientists to join the Global Product Development teams at our site at AstraZeneca, Gothenburg. Join us and be an active member of a multi skilled group, working closely together with analysts, formulators, chemists and biologists in our common effort to drive the projects forward.
AstraZeneca is a global, science-driven biopharmaceutical company. We are dedicated to discovering, developing, and delivering innovative, meaningful medicines and healthcare solutions that enrich the lives of patients.
At Global Product Development (GPD) Sweden, a division of Pharmaceutical Technology & Development, we focus on the fields of Immediate Release, Oral Controlled Release, and New Modality Drug Products for diverse therapeutic areas.
We are now looking to expand the area of Materials, more specifically in solid state, materials science and polymer science and are looking for scientists/senior scientists in these three areas, respectively. The positions span the range from planning and generating experimental data via sharing science in project teams to influencing within and across communities. In the respective roles, you are expected to fulfil the descriptions given below.
A: Solid state expert-The role will include:
* Acting as scientist/senior scientist/expert in the field of solid state analysis; characterization of key material properties, project reviews, being up to date with scientific development in the field.
* Influencing solid state during formulation development in late phase projects as well as understanding the implications of early solid state on the development in later phase, e.g. implications of solid state landscape on stability and manufacturability.
* Characterization of solid state forms by diffraction, spectroscopic and thermal techniques.
* Continuous development of ways of working with solid state analysis.
* Deep knowledge in relevant analytical techniques, where knowledge on computer-based methods are advantageous, to assess form selection and thermodynamic relationships between solid state forms.
* Acting as solid state scientist/senior scientist/expert in Global Product Development project teams being involved in daily laboratory work; e.g. performing analyses, performing risk assessments and give recommendations on solid state forms, trouble-shooting, etc.
B: Material Science expert-The role will include:
* Acting as scientist/senior scientist/expert in the field of material science; characterization of key material properties, project reviews, being up to date with scientific development in the field.
* Influencing material science during formulation development in late phase projects as well as understanding the implications of solid state forms on the powder properties and of pharmaceutical development including manufacturing processes applied to oral dosage forms
* Characterization of surface, mechanical, size and shape properties of powders.
* Continuous development of ways of working with material science.
* Deep knowledge in relevant analytical techniques as well as computer-based methods, to assess powder properties.
* Acting as material science a scientist/senior scientist/expert in Global Product Development project teams being involved in daily laboratory work; e.g. performing analyses, performing risk assessments and give recommendations on powder properties, trouble-shooting, etc.
C: Polymer Science expert-The role will include:
* Acting as scientist/senior scientist/expert in the field of polymer science; characterization of key material properties, project reviews, being up to date with scientific development in the field.
* Influencing materials science during formulation development in late phase projects as well as understanding the implications of material properties and of pharmaceutical development including manufacturing processes applied to oral dosage forms.
* Characterization of polymer properties for example by Size Exclusion Chromatography, light scattering and other tools such as NMR and Raman/IR.
* Continuous development of ways of working with material science.
* Acting as polymer science scientist/senior scientist/expert in Global Product Development project teams being involved in daily laboratory work; e.g. performing analyses, performing risk assessments and give recommendations on materials selection, polymer properties, trouble-shooting, etc.
Requirements - Education and Experience:
* PhD in a relevant subject or BSc/MSc degree with several years of work experience, or equivalent.
* Pharma experience and understanding of drug research and development processes is preferred
* Good communication and collaboration skills coupled with the ability to work to tight timelines.
* High quality scientific research, writing and experience in technical supervision in the solid state analysis field is advantageous
