Publiceringsdatum2016-05-12ArbetsuppgifterThe International School of Älmhult has grown rapidly since it opened in 2000 and has a current population of over 200 students. Situated in Älmhult in southern Sweden it is a state school with support from Ikea of Sweden. The local area, which has a population of approx. 16 000, is peaceful and situated in an attractive area with nearby lakes and forests. The small town of Växjö is easily reached by either rail or road, as are other large cities in the region and the Continent. The school was authorized for The International Baccalaureate's Primary Years Programme in May 2003 and for The Middle Years Programme in May 2009. The school is international and has a friendly atmosphere. The classes are small and all lessons are given in English.
Your role would be to ensure that library resources supports the IB academic programs from Preschool up to MYP 5. You will be teaching information and digital literacy alongside with reading literacy. You will work closely with coordinators, staff and students to develop the library and its resources. In the library you will guide the students in their work but also have groups of classes coming in. The library works with the Dewey Decimal System which will require knowledge about cataloguing.
In this position you will collaborate with other school librarians in the municipality and also with other IB Librarians.
KvalifikationerOur language of instruction is English, therefore the applicant must have a good spoken and written English.
Professional Experience and skills
• You will have a university Librarian degree.
• Experience working in a school library, including
teaching information and digital literacy
• Dedicated to student learning
• Experience in children's books and how to work
actively with literacy.
• You have the ability to match the right Resources
to the right level and needs of a student
• Good ability to work independently as well as
collaborate with teachers
• Knowledge and experience with the PYP/MYP
programs and resources
• Experience working with library systems
management, including cataloging and
classifying is valued.

and can drive a School Library Programme.
The applicant must be flexible and able to respond to the needs of a changing team within a growing workplace. You must be excited by the development of the school and be able to think independently to make good decisions.
