School librarian to Internationella Engelska Skolan in Sundbyberg

Internationella Engelska Skolan is seeking a driven and passionate School librarian to our school in Sundbyberg. As a School librarian you will work closely with the students, teachers and other staff and be part of the Administration Team. You believe in IES values and ethos and think that a safe and orderly environment is the key for learning. You believe in each child and are interested in finding solutions for every given situation. As a person you are calm, reliable but at the same time firm.

We are opening our new library for the school start 2019 and you will be responsible for the establishment, development and the day to day operation. If you are interested in joining our team in August 2019 this presents an excellent opportunity for you, where your abilities will be given space to grow and develop. The right attitude is important, which is why we are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, focused and resilient to the day-to-day pressures that working in education can bring.

Our vision is to create a library that is attractive to all students and that support and inspire students in accordance with our ethos.You shall live the school 's library in a way that creates an open and available atmosphere. The librarian shall have a clear, positive and respectful communication with the students in order to welcome them as visitors to the library.

Reports to the Principal

Part time 50%. The position can be combined with other duties such as reception, special education and teaching.

Responsibilities

• Establish and develop our new school library
• Operate the library on a day to day basis
• Support and guide students with educational matters
• Inspire students to read
• Support students with special needs
• Establish a library that has a calm, positive and safe atmosphere
• Establish the school's rules in the library
• Establish library rules
• Participate in mentor activities
• Encourage and arrange activities such as book club, world book day, reading day and visits
• Coordinate with the Student care Team about students needs and special education

Knowledge

• Strong understanding of the IES vision, ethos and values

Skills

• Experience of working well with others or as part of a team
• Bilingual with English and Swedish
• Good knowledge of school librarian duties
• Basic understanding of student care and pedagogic

Internationella Engelska Skolan Sundbyberg opened in August 2018. At IES our ethos is the foundation of how we perform and we are proud to have schools in Sweden which offer students bilingualism, high academic expectations and a safe and orderly environment.
