hela Sverige The Safety Manager is a senior management role responsible for planning, directing, and managing the overall Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) system for the project. A Safety Manager in a civil industrial plant needs a blend of technical knowledge, leadership skills, and strong communication abilities. Key qualifications include a relevant bachelor's degree, experience in construction and safety management, and certifications like CHST or CSP. They must be proficient in OSHA and other relevant regulations, risk assessment, emergency response planning, and especially in the preparation of detailed safety documentation (e.g., Risk Assessment and Method Statements - RAMS, Lifting Plans, Permits to Work, Emergency Procedures).
Minimum 10 Years of experience required on industrial plants, particularly within the civil or construction sector, is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop the project's safety policies and master plan.
Supervise and manage the team of Safety Officers.
Conduct comprehensive safety risk assessments and establish preventive measures.
Prepare, review, and approve safety documentation including RAMS, lifting and rigging plans, confined space entry plans, and other task-specific safety protocols.
Ensure proper documentation control, versioning, and traceability of all safety-related procedures and registers.
Investigate incidents, analyse root causes, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Liaise and coordinate with government agencies related to safety regulations.
Build and promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization and project.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) are highly desirable, demonstrating expertise and commitment to safety.
A bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related engineering field (e.g., Industrial, Mechanical, Civil).
At least 10 years of experience in plant operations, safety management, or a related field, preferably in industrial/civil projects.
Strong ability to develop and manage technical safety documentation, including RAMS, lifting and rigging plans, method statements, permits to work, emergency response plans, and compliance records.
The ability to identify, assess, and mitigate potential hazards and risks in the workplace.
Developing and implementing comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate safety policies, procedures, and training.
Ability to lead, motivate, and influence teams to prioritize safety.
Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Experience in audit preparation, document control, and safety reporting systems.
Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail for identifying hazards and ensuring safety protocols.
A commitment to continuous improvement in safety practices and documentation.
Adaptability to evolving safety regulations and industry best practices.
Familiarity with safety technologies, including software, drones, and sensors, to enhance safety management.
