The Machines Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a RF Distribution Engineer.

Description of directorate/division
The Accelerator Division is responsible for the design, construction, commissioning and operation of the ESS accelerator. The pulsed superconducting linac, to be built in Lund, will produce a 5 MW average power proton beam, driving the worlds's most powerful neutron source. The RF group is responsible for design of the RF system for the ESS accelerator. Today we count to six people, and by the end of 2013 we aim to number 12.

Description of main responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will be work with the design, specification, procurement, and installation of the ESS high Power RF distribution system from the RF power amplifiers to the accelerator cavities. This includes placement of for example waveguides and/or transmission lines, circulators, loads, cabling, and controls for the distribution system. The RF work package is one of the largest work packages of the accelerator.

To be successful in this position we believe you have a master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent and practical experience of work with RF distribution components such as waveguides, high power circulators, directional couplers, microwave network design and analysis.

It will be an advantage if you have experience of working in an industrial environment and have links with both industrial and academic partners. Experience of software planning tolls is an advantage, as well as experience of budgeting and manpower planning. 

Strong communication, team work and collaboration skills are a must. You are proud of your work and sets high standard for quality and quantity. Your English skills are excellent both spoken and written.

The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.
