The Department of Microbiology and Immunology within the Institute of Biomedicine has a long history of research in mucosal immunology with emphasis on immunology of the gastrointestinal tract and vaccine development. Immunological responses underlying intestinal diseases, particularly inflammatory bowel diseases and colon cancer, as well as inflammation, hematopoiesis, cellular ageing and immune responses to vaccination are areas of research in the Department. The Department consists of 16 research groups with 70 scientists, students, postdocs and technical staff working within the different projects.
Job assignments
The main task is to design and execute experiments on immune cells from human samples including intestinal tissue blood. Cells will be prepared from the human tissue and cell function will be analyzed and using immunological assays such as multi-color (> 10) flow cytometry and cell sorting, transcription analyses, proteome analyses, cytokine assays (multiplex and ELISA) and in vitro cellular assays. Data will be analyzed and compiled for presentations and manuscripts
Qualifications
To qualify as a researcher, the application must hold a PhD in a relevant subject such as immunology, inflammation or related area. Experience in immunological analysis of human intestinal and blood cells, multicolor flow cytometry (> 10 simultaneously) and cell sorting, transcription analysis using the Nanostring platform, human cell culture and cytokine analysis using ELISA and multiplex arrays is necessary. You must have the ability to work independently and have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English. Experience using Diva and FlowJo software, analysis of nCounter transcription data and statistical analysis of data using Prism is required. Knowledge of R-program language is a merit.
Employment
The employment is limited (temporary) for 6 months and full time 100% with placement at the Institute of biomedicine. First day of employment as agreed.
