The Centre for Baltic and East European Studies (CBEES) at Södertörn University is an international research centre that is tasked with stimulating and developing research and third-cycle (doctoral) education with a focus on the Baltic region, as well as conducting its own research in this field.We are now looking for a Research Leader in Romani Studies, focusing on the Baltic region.The Research Leader and the Professor of Romani Studies are responsible for the growth of research into Romani issues.
Job description
The Research Leader shall:
• initiate, develop, coordinate and conduct research relating to Romani issues in cooperation with the entire university and international research centres
• lead a higher seminar
• be responsible for outreach seminar activities
• cooperate with the university's teacher education
• cooperate with representatives of the Romani minority and with public authorities and organisations
• conduct external monitoring
Qualifications
• Doctoral degree
• Proficiency in English, as CBEES' working language is English
• Knowledge of Romani Chib
• Documented experience of research in an area relevant to the post:Romani history, migration, ethnology, education and/or linguistics
• Experience of working with Romani groups, nationally and/or internationally
• Documented, good quality leadership experience, ability to cooperate and administrative expertise
• Proficiency at conducting third stream activities
A teaching degree and experience of teaching from Teacher Education are beneficial.
Particular emphasis will be placed on personal suitability when assessing applications.

The position is 50% of full-time for 12 months, physically located at CBEES.First date of employment as agreed.The administrative place of employment is the School of Culture and Education.
