EPSO is a cross professional and cross disciplinary section combining an academic work environment with high quality teaching. www.epso.gu.se SUBJECT AREA DESCRIPTION: Epidemiologic research with Public Health Nutrition includes design, collection and analysis of exposure data on obesity, diet, physical activity etc and outcome data on heart and circulatory diseases, diabetes, metabolic syndrom etc. As part of this type of analysis confounding or mediating factors are evaluated. JOB ASSIGNMENTS: Analysis of longitudinal data collected as part of the EpiLife Center and different projects in that collaboration. Analysis with a life course perspective is an important aspect of this research. The focus is on diet, obesity, and physical activity in relation to physical and mental health outcomes. An important part of the position is to be responsible for the development of collaboration among younger researchers in EpiLife and for writing applications for new projects. Teaching in epidemiology and public health nutrition mainly in the public health programs is part of the position.
ELIGIBILITY: The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in University of Gothenburg's Appointments Procedure for Teachers. Qualified for appointment as postdoctoral research fellow (forskarassistent) is a person who has been awarded a PhD degree or have achieved equivalent academic qualifications. Priority should be given to candidates who have been awarded a PhD or achieved equivalent qualifications no more than seven years before the application deadline. Candidates who graduated earlier may also be given primary consideration if there are special reasons. Special reasons are considered to be a leave of absence due to illness, parental leave for example. Reason, dates and extent must be clearly specified in the application and verified with the relevant documentation. ASSESSMENT: First assessment criterion are scientific and pedagogical skills. Extensive hands-on experience and knowledge in analysis of longitudinal, epidemiological data with register-based outcomes, from several cohort studies, is a requirement. Proven national, Nordic and international collaboration is a merit. Skills in teaching in epidemiology and nutrition is a merit, as well as experience in course leadership. Administrative skills and ability to cooperate will also be considered. Good knowledge in the Swedish language.
