Department of Plant Breeding
The Department of Plant Breeding, at SLU in Alnarp, works with research, education and innovation work. The focus is on activities that are of strategic importance for crops with a sustainable and profitable production of plant-based food, feed and industrial products in a changing climate. The Department constitutes a multidisciplinary, innovative, and creative environment that works with current and future challenges.

Duties:
In communication with PI of projects, conduct independent experimentation work in the area of plant molecular biology, biochemistry, tissue culture, genome editing and analytics. The work duties also concern bioinformatic processing of RNAseq raw data. The position will mainly concern projects on potato with metabolic and genetic regulation of content and quality of the storage products starch and oil. It is expected that the position will assist in research communication in the form of publications or poster presentations.

Qualifications:
An MSc in biology related to plant biology is required with a PhD exam as meriting for the position. Documented experience of plant research and solid laboratory experimentation in the direction of plant molecular biology, tissue culture and genome editing is required. Experience of bioinformatics processing of RNAseq raw data is required. Experience of starch, lipid and sugar analysis is highly meriting. Special emphasis is placed on the personal characteristics of the applicant. The candidate must be analytical and accurate, and have a good ability to work independently and in collaboration with others within given time frames.
