hela Sverige Biomaterials Innovation is offering a position for a talented Research Engineer for Analysis and Quality Control/Management to strengthen our R&D team at the Innovation Centre for Biomaterials in Sickla/Stockholm.You will report to Lab Manager Lignode.

About the position
In this position as a Research Engineer you will contribute to our exciting mission by performing analyses on new materials and by supporting our R&D activities on current and future material generations.
Your Main Responsibilities:
Contribute to R&D activities, by performing physical and chemical analysis and by data evaluation and interpretation.
Develop new analytical methods, including screening of new instruments and set-up
Validate and optimize existing methods depending on customer requirements
Update and maintain existing LIMS system and improve further usage
Support the implementation and updating of QM procedures (writing routines, other QM-related documents/software)
Perform routine analysis on materials from our pilot plant, including physical and chemical analysis (XRF, ICP-OES, OEA, TGA, SEM, EDX, gas sorption, particle size, etc.)
Take over laboratory and instrument responsibility and perform routine tasks (shipping samples, ordering consumables and chemicals, handling waste, etc.) to keep labs operating.
Ensure that the workspace is as safe as possible (create and continuously update risk assessments, make safety observations, keep workspace clean and in order, etc.).

One of the many innovation activities of Biomaterials Innovation is the development and commercialization of Lignode® - our bio-based carbon material for energy storage in Li-ion and Na-ion batteries. The global battery market is expected to expand rapidly within the next ten years, enabling new solutions in the fields of consumer electronics, e-mobility, and residential energy storage. With our renewable bio-based materials we contribute to making these solutions more environmentally friendly and sustainable. As an important milestone in our mission, Stora Enso has recently started operations of its newly constructed pilot plant for the production of bio-based carbons at our Sunila mill in southern Finland. In order to succeed in this role, you have a profound experience with working in a chemical laboratory, which you have ideally shown by completing master studies (in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, or the like) plus 3 years' experience in a lab environment. We see that you have experience from working in an analytical or GMP-regulated environment and experience from analytical method development. Experience with the afore-mentioned analysis methods and implementation of a LIMS system we see as meritorious. You are skilled in the use MS Office applications (such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and MS Teams. Experience with Minitab or a similar software, as well as basic programming skills, e.g. in VBA Excel, is a benefit.
As a person and a colleague, you are open-minded, well organized, have a detail and quality conscious attitude and are safety oriented. With a hands-on mentality and the willingness and flexibility to support new laboratory activities on short notice. You like to work in an international and interdisciplinary environment, and your English is fluent in speaking and writing.
