HERM was established in 2012 and holds excellent facilities for translational research, and is the home of 14 research groups mixing clinical and basic science.
HERM is a unit within the Department of Medicine, Huddinge at the Karolinska Institutet at the Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge site.
The research group
J Ungerstedt lab group comprises of a mix of clinical scientists and preclinical PhD students, working on epigenetics in the pathogenesis and treatment of myeloid hematological malignancies, mainly MDS and the Mastocytosis Biobank.
Duties
The Research assistant position includes the following tasks: supportive work for the Mastocytosis Biobank, work on pathogenesis and progression of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia including magnetic bead and flow cytometry separation of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, RT PCR, cell culture of primary human cells and cell lines, ChIP sequencing, and bioinformatics workup on sequencing data.
Experience and competence
We are looking for a person with experience in cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques. Experience in ChIP sequencing and bioinformatic processing of large data sets is of high merit.
Qualifications
The person must be able to work dynamically in the research group. Excellent knowledge of the English language is of utmost importance. The applicant will be assessed on basis of technical competence, as well as past lab experience, and interest in perhaps in the future pursuing a PhD. Personal suitability is will be a strong selection criterion.
