The Faculty of Culture and Society
The Faculty of Culture and Society is a multidisciplinary faculty that includes the School of Arts and Communication, the Department of Global Political Studies and the Department of Urban Studies.

Department of Urban Studies
The Department of Urban studies is a multidisciplinary department with approximately 80 employees and 2000 students. At the Department of Urban Studies we carry out teaching and research with the long term goal of building sustainable and attractive cities. Three areas of focus are:

* Sustainable urban development, with focus on leadership, organization and management of urban development processes.
* Culture and urban integration.
* Real estate, housing and environmental planning, which focus on construction, real estate business, property, housing and good living conditions.
The department's undergraduate education includes studies in real estate management and transactions, urban planning, environmental studies, transport management, architecture, leadership and organization. International education includes a two-year Master's level programme in and a doctoral programme in Urban Studies, as well as master's programmes in leadership and organization. The position will be with the field of real estate studies, although teaching can take place across the whole department.

Real Estate Studies
The education in real estate studies at the department has a long tradition of industry collaboration, for example through the Centre for real estate companies, Cfff. The real estate industry is undergoing rapid transformation, both in technical terms but also with knowledge becoming increasingly important. Research within real estate studies include housing, land use, appraisal, real estate business and organization.

About the postition
As a research assistant at the Department of Urban Studies, you will participate in research projects under the supervision of a group of researchers. The research projects in question, Spatial Analysis of Accessibility, Real Estate and Labour market (SAAREL), involve extensive use of geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial econometrics. As a research assistant, you will assist in preparing input material for research projects, as well as developing and maintaining existing databases. You will also play an important role in the layout and graphic design of map works for presentations and publications. The position may also contain a limited amount of teaching, such as assisting in supervision and exercise sessions. The position requires that you are thorough and can take your own initiatives.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for the position, applicants must have a Bachelor Degree in Economic Geography, Economics, or related fields.

Selection criteria
The following merits will be taken into consideration in the evaluation of applicants for this specific post:

• Experience of and skills in geographic information systems (GIS), especially using ArcGIS
• Experience of and skills in graphic design of map works
• Knowledge of spatial econometrics
