Job Description
Do you want to drive the electrification of industries and shape value chains enabling the transition to fossil freedom?
Vattenfall Services Power Consulting contributes to development projects of strategic importance to Vattenfall, primarily within Research & Development.
R&D works in close collaboration with leading industries to support their transition towards fossil freedom. One example is HYBRIT, where Vattenfall, LKAB and SSAB have built the world's first fossil free steel pilot plant. The transition requires large amounts of clean energy, where securing and analysing the energy supply chain is vital.
About the Job
You will be hired at Vattenfall Services Power Consulting and join the Fossil Free Industry section at R&D. You will be part of the Energy Supply Chain team whose mission is to investigate energy supply options, energy transmission infrastructure, energy storage technologies and electricity market impact to create cost effective value chains. Your team leads several projects where different electrification technologies are used.
You will have a key role in calculations and analysis of value chains, from technical details and dispatch optimisations to overall financial KPIs included in business case and investment decisions. Industry electrification impacts the electricity market and vice versa, and you will investigate these relationships thoroughly.
Your responsibilities:
Actively and together with other experts within and outside Vattenfall find technical and financial solutions for industrial electrification projects
Setup and run dispatch optimisations for a variety of technical solutions using Python
Economic valuation of projects and KPIs
Visualisations and sensitivity analysis using PowerBI + Python
Analysis of the relation between electrification projects and electricity markets and the impacts on market prices, revenues, energy balances, production behavior, etc.
Qualifications

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative field, e.g. applied mathematics, applied physics, engineering or similar
Some years of experience in the Energy sector - power market modelling or similar
Strong analytical skills and ability to solve abstract problems
Solid programming experience, preferably Python
Experienced in visualization and communication of analysis and results
