Purchasing at Husqvarna will be organized in several functions securing quality, delivery, cost efficiency and sustainability of supply to Husqvarna on a global level. One of the key functions within Purchasing is Commodity Management, which focuses on managing all direct material commodities and related commercial relationships with suppliers.
The Steel and Casting Director for Region Europe is responsible for quality, delivery, cost efficiency and sustainability of the direct material commodity Petrol Power Components' supply throughout the product lifecycle for Europe. Husqvarna Group has several factories in Europe (for example Sweden, Germany, UK, Poland, Czech Republic, Norway) that is within the responsibility. The team reporting directly to the Director consists of 5-10 Commodity Mangers.
Essential Duties:
• Be ultimately in charge of all commercial relationships with suppliers within the commodity on the global level, securing targeted levels of total cost, quality, delivery precision, sustainability, etc.
• Form a long term strategy of how to deliver the greatest value for a global commodity and crafting a plan how to achieve it
• Drive value by implementing strategic sourcing and entering into cost efficient agreements that fulfill supply requirements, by using a systematic methodology and a continuous total cost of ownership focus. Oversee the negotiation, development and maintenance of vendor agreements. Lead critical negotiations
• Manage supplier relationships to drive supplier performance, contract effectiveness, collaboration and integration and deliver improved result. Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with key vendors within the commodity with the objective of reducing costs and eliminating efficiencies
• Manage a commodity team, ensuring alignment to the commodity strategy and plan. Ensure commodity teams share leading practices and lessons learned, use consistent methodologies, and pursue deliverables that are aligned with the corporate, purchasing and commodity objectives; develop the professional, industry, purchasing and commodity skills of multiple team members
• Build and maintain relationships with internal customers and other functions to ensure continuous improvement and that service level commitments are met
• Develop cost engineering expertise and drive demand management to optimize lifecycle cost
• Conduct PPV activities and monthly reporting, budgeting (including PPV and OMV), and annual price negotiations as well as other initiatives
Preferred qualifications:
• Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in business administration, engineering or otherother relevant discipline
• Preferred: Master's Degree and recognized qualification in Purchasing
• Minimum 5 years of significant managerial and leadership experience, including management of international teams
• Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in commodity management positions
• Experience of the commodity Petrol Power Components is an advantage
• Fluency in English is required (written and oral)
• Fluency in additional languages, e.g. German, Chinese, or other language, is an advantage
Skills and Capabilities:
• Strong leadership and managerial skills, including an ability to lead and manage international and multi-cultural teams
• Ability to define a vision and strategy for purchasing and the global commodity
