Job description
The project coordinator position is part of a new EU H2020 Horizon research project on the transition to a zero carbon Europe by 2050.

The project is called REINVENT (Realising Innovation in Transitions for Decarbonisation) and is coordinated by Prof Lars Nilsson, Lund University. REINVENT will make an innovative scientific and societal contribution through (a) focusing on important economic sectors (steel, plastics, paper, and meat and dairy) that are relatively unexplored yet important for the whole economy, (b) studying transitions from within these sectors, and (c) taking whole value chains into account through (d) a new analytical approach capable of advancing our understanding of key drivers, dynamics and implications of decarbonisation.

The project coordinator will assist in coordination of REINVENT, being involved in day-to-day running of the project, tracking project progress, submitting key management and communication deliverables of the project, communicating with internationally based project participants (i.e. researchers and administrators based in four countries and five institutions), as well as organising of workshops and events. To ensure these are in line with the ambitions of the project, the position holder is expected to have a strong research background and have a solid grasp of research conducted within the project. The position requires prior experience in management and coordination of academic research.
This role also provides an opportunity to carry out research on the politics and sustainability of plastics as part of the Sustainable Product Chains for Plastics (SUSPLAST, funded by the Kamprad Foundation). This requires the ability to conduct research independently and ideally to have an experience in research on politics and sustainability of plastics, as well as familiarity with research in the areas of politics, sustainability and critical management studies. The work will include fieldwork (case studies and advanced study-group visits) into various sites along the value chains of plastic, so skills in field methodology are required.

The project coordination and research are expected to take around 75% and 25% (the total position is 50%, however) respectively. The project coordinator will be expected to have the Department of Political Science in Lund as the main place of work.

Qualifications
Eligibility for employment as a project coordinator (with opportunities for research) requires completion or being close to completion of a PhD degree in a relevant subject. Priority will be given to applicants who have completed a PhD degree. We seek candidates with a PhD in Political Science or related discipline (e.g. Management, Geography, Sociology, Anthropology) and competence within the areas of politics, critical management studies and sustainability, as well as the field of plastics. Coordination and research skills will be the main selection criteria. Knowledge about field-based methodologies is an important requirement. The ability to work and communicate in a multi-disciplinary international environment is also very important as well as to conduct research independently. A key qualification for the position is the capacity to contribute to the research projects' overall goals.
