The Library Head Office is looking for a skilled programmer. The main task will be to take part in the further development and maintenance of Lund University Universal Repostitory software (LUUR). The software is used to build institutional repositories that register and publish scientific publications and other digital objects. It is developed in cooperation with the Ghent University, Belgium. It is planned to be made available as open source in the fall of 2010 and the applicant will be expected to be part of the core programming team managing the further development of this software. Therefore good communication skills and proficiency in English are essential.
Other tasks will be the technical administration and upgrading of services offered by the Library Head Office to Lund University and internationally. Examples are Open Journal Systems, a journal publishing software and DOAJ, the internationally acclaimed Directory of Open Access Journals.
The applicant is expected to be able to work independently as well as a team member in a small team environment and to have the ability and interest to quickly learn new technologies. Developing documentation and guidelines to the LUUR software will be part of the responsibilities
Önskvärda kvalifikationer
Experiences and interest in developing web applications in a Linux/UNIX environment.
Knowledge of or experiences in working with: Apache, MySQL, SQL, Perl, Java, PHP, Javascript, XML, XSLT, HTTP, HTML, CGI, Git.
Experience from working in a library (or academic research) environment is an advantage.
A university degree in a related field is preferable
