We defend people’s civil and political rights and empower human rights defenders at risk. In Eastern Europe and Central Asia we closely co-operate with a number of human rights organisations, advocating for improvements in the realm of human rights and empowering human rights defenders at risk. We are now looking to recruit a competent Programme Assistant for the Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Area of Responsibility
The Programme Assistant (PA) is responsible for administrative and logistics assistance to the staff carrying out our human rights support programme and long term partnerships with human rights organisations in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The job includes contacts with human rights defenders in the region on a regular basis, and requires fluency in Russian.
As programme assistant you will:
Organise and follow up on the travel and accommodation arrangements for participants of trainings in Europe and Central Asia, in cooperation with the Eastern Europe and Central Asia team.
Conduct some international travel to help out with trainings.
Provide general administrative support to the Programme Director.
Monitor fundraising possibilities and write applications to donors.
Provide support in monitoring, evaluating and reporting on partnerships and activities.
Assist our field office with administrative tasks.
Take part in emergency service within the Natalia Project.
Do minor translations between Russian and English (and possibly Swedish).
Qualifications:
Relevant academic education in international relations, law, journalism or other related field.
Documented experience in administrative work preferably from organising trainings, conferences, events or similar.
Experience from human rights work.
Fluency in English and Russian. Swedish language skills are a strong merit.
Conditions of Employment:
The Programme Officer for Eastern Europe and Central Asia will be based in Stockholm and travel frequently. This position starts with a trial period of 6 months, followed by a permanent contract.
