The School of Engineering, JTH, is one of four schools that are part of Jönköping University. It is our vision to be leaders in Europe in developing and spreading new technology and knowledge that reinforce the international competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises.

JTH offers education at all levels. Contact with industry is an important part of our education in order to ensure that the education is anchored in reality, and to acquire practical experience.

Research and third-cycle education are targeted at Industrial product realisation in cooperation, especially applications for small and medium-sized enterprises. Research takes place in collaboration with companies, research institutes and other university colleges of technology, in common projects.



Within the department of Construction Engineering and Lighting Science there are good possibilities for personal development by participating in research projects, mostly done in close co-operation with industry.

The research is interdisciplinary and includes the whole chain from coating process and material properties to materials science as well as modelling and simulation. The department today consists of 17 researchers and PhD students.

Job description

We are seeking one Professor with a background in construction, production, or operations management to work in the Built Environment research group. The research is conducted in close cooperation with other relevant fields within the school of engineering, for instance Product Development and Industrial Engineering and Management. The work consists of research and teaching in the area construction engineering.

The primary research focus concerns how an integrated industrialized construction process can be created for customizing and optimizing the design and production of the final product. It also entails the integration of planning, design and management of production in construction projects. For instance, how digital technologies, tools and applications can be used for information management in an integrated building process.

A close cooperation with relevant companies is also one of the foundations of the work within the School of Engineering. Other integral parts of the research activities are to apply for research grants from external funding agencies, as well as supervision of PhD and master students.

Qualifications

We are looking for researchers with a strong track record in the area of construction as well as having experience from cross-disciplinary research in cooperation with companies.

The following qualifications are mandatory for all applicants

- Doctoral degree in the field of production management in construction, or construction engineering, or other relevant fields.
- The candidate is expected to have a genuine interest and curiosity in the subject and ability to work both independently and in teams.
- Publications in relevant international scientific journals.
- Proven experience of teaching in amounting to at least one year full-time teaching.
- Pedagogical education or equivalent, as well as evidence of pedagogical skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and proven ability to teach and examine courses using English at the university level.
- Experience in writing research grant applications.

The following competences are considered merits

- Experience from multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Experience in writing research grant applications, in collaborating internationally in research, and in collaborating and interacting with private, public and voluntary sector organizations.

Information

Employment starts from October 1st 2017 or after agreement.

It is a fulltime position until further notice. Collective agreement is applicable.
