The Car purchasing section Interior is an interesting area that is ever changing. Currently we are 36 dedicated members consisting of product and commodity buyers, four senior purchasing managers and one purchasing director. We handle almost all interior design commodities within our cars. The Seats team within Interior is now looking for a Product Buyer.
As a Product Buyer you will be part of a group of total six buyers responsible for all activities within the area of Seats and surface materials. The tasks will be performed in cooperation with a team of colleagues from Purchasing, Development, Product Planning and Marketing. For this position you preferably have a background from a buyer role within VCC or likewise position from other companies. This is an opportunity for you to develop and to be part of these exciting business areas. We are now looking for you who want to contribute with your buyer skills.
Main responsibilities
• Lead suppliers through the project phase, making sure all costs are according to technical status
• Negotiate QOPs for projects and running business, placing orders and updating prices
• Issue purchase orders and make other transactions, updates and reports
• Strive to attain constant improvements and increase efficiency by e.g. establishing a supplier base in accordance to Volvo Cars overall strategies
• Participate in Total Value Management (TVM) activities
• Identify and contribute to implementation of improvement opportunities (internally and at suppliers)
• Build long term and trusting partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Handle supplier quality and capacity issues in co-operation with other team members, i.e. CE, SQM and finance
• Co-operate closely with Commodity Buyers and Cost Estimators to identify commercial opportunities and solve open issues
• Attend Global Commodity Council Meeting to align strategies between China and EU
Required qualifications
• University Bachelor degree or equivalent experience, Technical or Economical
• Purchasing experience and/or good negotiation experience and skills from leading projects
• Ability to work co-operatively in teams and to independently drive and complete tasks
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Knowledge of Purchasing processes and systems as well as standard computer skills such as MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience from project management is meritorious
