The H&M Group is on an exciting journey to meet and exceed our customers' expectations today, tomorrow and in the future. Rapid technological development and new customer behaviours are transforming the fashion retail industry. To cater the individual needs and desires of our millions of customers, Business Tech delivers technological solutions for the entire value chain for all our brands.
We continuously surprise and delight our customers and accelerate our business - by the power of people, data and technology. We explore new ways of working, have a customer focused mindset, embrace our strong values and release the power of our people to innovate and develop products that make a meaningful impact to customers all over the world.
About the role
As the Product Area Lead Engineer in Customer Attraction, you will co-lead the product area, consisting of 8-12 product teams (approximately 100 people), together with the Product Area Manager. The Customer Attraction product area is responsible for all digital capabilities across the H&M group that attract new and existing customers into our stores, both digital and physical. This includes the technology supporting all of our paid and organic marketing activities, such as paid and organic marketing channel technology (SEO, paid search, social media, display, online video, affiliates) as well as core enablers such as attribution, media mix modelling, content optimization, and 3rd party data sources. The area is fully responsible to develop, build & operate these tech products in order to fulfil the H&M Group business needs.
What you will do as Product Area Lead Engineer
In the Business Tech organisation, you will lead this cross-functional product development area that delivers business and customer value, always with salesmanship at heart. A main focus for the Product Area Lead Engineer is to be accountable for the Product Area's technical architecture and engineering practices. Using your MarTech and engineering experience, you will be a catalyst for technical innovation, modernization of our technical landscape, and drive the engineering culture on Product Area level.
You will collaborate with the Heads of Engineering & Product for the Customer domain as well as other Product Area Managers and Product Area Lead Engineers to solve complex engineering problems and ensure an aligned technology roadmap. A central part of the role will be to guide and lead your team during our ongoing transformation period. We are on a journey together which means there is no clear path. You will play an important role in setting the foundation and creating our future organisation. Furthermore, you will:
Enable fact-based technology discussions, to reach desired business effect/goals and architectural vision
Provide hands-on technical guidance to product teams including supporting system/design/code reviews
Be responsible for people evaluation of Engineering Competency Leads
Own the technology lifecycle management and API catalogue in the product area including the definition, creation and maintenance of technical interfaces / APIs in the product area that are exposed by the teams in the area
Work with enabling platform teams to secure efficient usage of common technology platforms
Be responsible for the overall work environment for your team
Your mindset & skills
As a Product Area Lead Engineer, you have a passion for tech and modern software development and engineering practices.
You bring broad experience working with implementing and optimising marketing technology in global, consumer-oriented organisations, with a focus on customer acquisition. You have deep technical knowledge around paid and organic marketing channel technology (SEO, paid search, social media, display, online video, affiliates) as well as core enablers such as attribution, media mix modelling, content optimization, and 3rd party data sources. And you are interested in current and upcoming tech trends in the area. It is a big plus if you also have knowledge of current marketing trends and technology in Asian markets above and beyond the core technology in western markets.
Ideally you have been part of, and driven, several major MarTech implementations focused on acquisition with large international companies with a global footprint.
We think you are customer obsessed and always pushes to develop current and new innovative customer offerings. You are a visionary "doer" with the ability to lead a large organisation and thrive in a constantly developing matrixed organisation with both complex and evolving technology and products.
Our journey will lead to something new and exciting - we will test, fail and learn. You are an important player in this transformation; therefore, we believe you are flexible, stress-resistant and able to work in an environment that are not yet formalised. We think you have great leadership skills and believe in a culture of collaboration, transparency, safety, and trust. You empower others to fail, learn, and grow and celebrate success as much as failure. You are a visionary leader that coaches and empower your colleagues with the most relevant competencies so they can lead, collaborate, and deliver exceptional customer and business results. We believe that you are a curious leader focused on value creation, growth and serving customers with full ownership and accountability. You have a holistic mindset and are typically skilled in breaking down silos, enable collaboration and empower teams. We call this servant leadership. Furthermore, we believe you:
Have the ability to lead an organisation unit with 70-150+ employees
Have great experience from software engineering working with developing, running and scaling cutting-edge technology solutions and platforms
Have deep understanding and experience of Agile product development (e.g. DevOps)
Have developed, shipped and maintained several successful digital products over the years
Have a minimum 7 years of experience working with acquisition and MarTech technology
