The Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKE) is one of the university's largest departments, with operations mainly in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Our aim is to engage in medical and biomedical education and research of high international standing. At undergraduate level the department is responsible for most of the medical programme, the speech and language pathology programme and the medical biology programme.

Your future work assignments
Your work assignments will include:
• Design, acquisition and analysis of data from animal studies in the field of affective disorders and addiction
• Advanced technical work in the field of neuropsychopharmacology
• Behavioral studies in rodents, including models of drug self-administration and microsurgery
• Supervision of undergraduate and graduate students
Your future workplace
You will work in a research laboratory at Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN).
Your qualifications
The applicant must have a PhD in Medicine, Neuroscience or a closely related field. The applicant is expected to have in depth knowledge in the areas of pharmacology and neuroscience. Completed course in laboratory animal science (LiU course number 8MEA05-Laboratory Animal Sciences, 7.5 credits or equivalent course) as well as experience in rodent models of drug addiction/mood disorders including operant self-administration and behavioral paradigms for assessing anxiety and depression is a requirement. You must also have experience in stereotaxic brain surgery and intravenous catheterization in rats, as well as molecular and biochemical analyses such as immunohistochemistry, enzyme linked immunoassay, RNAscope, Western Blotting and a good knowledge in confocal microscopy.
The applicant should demonstrate capability for independent work. Strong interpersonal skills are highly valued. The applicant should be familiar with dissemination of scientific research and have a good publication record in journals and attended conferences. Experience in student supervision would be a particular merit.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.
