One of the strategic research areas of Lund University is combustion with world leading activities in laser/optical diagnostics, engine research, fire research and CFD. The activities have a new dedicated building with state-of-the-art experimental facilities, especially in the field of advanced lase/optical diagnostics. Besides there are several national research centers in the area of combustion hosted by Lund University. In order to broaden and strengthen our activities in combustion research, we are now announcing a post doc. position within the area of laser/optical diagnostics in the studies of plasma-assisted combustion.

Physics with focus on plasma studies using laser diagnostic techniques
Job assignments:
The research activities will be directed towards development and application of laser/optical techniques for a deepened understanding of phenomena related to plasmas and plasma assisted combustion in specific. A main emphasis with the work is to make quantitative measurements for detailed comparison with modeling. The work will will be perfomed to study fast phenomena. Experimental work will take place both in the laboratory as well as in industrial sites.
Eligibility requirements:
Qualified for the position as postdoctoral fellow is a person who holds a doctorate or a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a doctorate and who has completed the degree within the three years prior to the last date for applications, unless there are valid reasons. Special requirements for this position:
• a PhD in a relevant area
• a proven record in the area of laser-based combustion diagnostics
• fluency in English, written as well as spoken
Basis of assessment:
For appointments to postdoctoral fellow, good ability to develop and carry out research as well as teaching ability forms the assessment criteria. Desirable qualifications:
• experience from quantitative laser/optical diagnostics
• experience from short pulse diagnostics
• experience from collaboration with other disciplines
• willingness to and experience from teamwork
Consideration will also be given to how the applicant through his/her personality, experience and competence is assessed to complement and strengthen the ongoing research and teaching at the Department of Combustion Physics.
