The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB) is among the largest departments of epidemiology in Europe with special focus on increasing our knowledge of the aetiology of different diseases. Our department consists of researchers, doctoral students, biostatisticians, data collectors and database administrators as well as administrative personnel, in total some 250 staff. Division

The stress research group at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics aims to understand how various indices of psychological stress affect health and disease development during the life course, as well as to understand both the genetic and non-genetic determinants of favorable vs.

adverse health outcomes after exposure to severe psychological stress.

Area of responsibilities/description of the work

The candidate of this position will be responsible for literature review, study design, data analysis, and manuscript writing.

Qualifications

The applicant should have a PhD degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or related subjects. A degree in medicine or psychology will be a plus. The applicant should be skilled in advanced multivariable statistical analysis utilizing large-scale databases and have good experience in writing scientific articles. Research experience in psychological stress and genetic epidemiology, as well as clinical experience in oncology or cancer care will be of advantage. The applicant should be an independent researcher, but also a good team worker. Proficient English communication skills are prerequisite for this position because we work with a large group of international collaborators.

Entry requirements

A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The term can be extended under special circumstances.
