The main aim of our research group, "Sleep, cognition and health", part of The Division of Psychology, is to increase the understanding of how sleep in the modern life affects our biology, cognition, and health.
We primarily use experimental methods, but we also carry out studies in real-life settings, such as with medical doctors working on-call shifts. Our work is strongly interdisciplinary and we have several on-going projects with research groups within Karolinska Institutet as well as internationally. Parts of the research group is situated at the Stress Research Institute, Stockholm University.
Your mission
The "sleep, cognition and health" group seeks two postdoctoral researchers to work on behavioural studies examining sleep and cognitive functioning in modern life. The main project will run during 2020 and 2021. Duties will include:
- planning, administrating and coordinating research projects
- manage data collection in the field and in the sleep laboratory
- supervising students
- carry out advanced statistical analysis including mixed effects modelling, Bayesian modelling, generalized linear modeling, generalized additive modelling
- reporting of data, data visualisation,and article writing
The position includes night work.
Your profile
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
You should be a highly-motivated, and enthusiastic person with experience in our area of research. Weight is placed on personal qualities for the position such as a high degree of independence, a collaborative approach to research, having good interpersonal skills and being able to work productively in a team. Very good knowledge of Swedish or English, both verbal and written, is required.
Strong applicants will have:
- Ph.D. in cognitive neuroscience, psychology or related field
- Experience in acquiring, analyzing, and interpreting psychophysiological data (particularly of PSG, EEG, and actigraphy)
- Demonstrated ability to complete projects, as evidenced by first-author publications
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Strong statistical and technical skills (e.g., R, Matlab, Python)
