Subject area
The subject area for this position is Chemistry/Metabolomics.
Background
We seek a postdoctoral researcher within the field of metabolomics and environmental analyses. Research is linked to the new and ongoing research projects funded by the Swedish Research Council, Novo Nordisk Foundation and Formas. The main overarching theme of these projects is investigations of the links between early life exposure to environmental chemicals and the pathogenesis of certain metabolic and immune-mediated diseases as well as neurological development.
Duties and responsibilities
The position as a postdoctoral researcher is intended to enable persons who have recently been awarded their doctoral degree, to consolidate and develop primarily their research skills. The postdoctoral researcher will be primarily in charge of metabolomics and environmental analyses. Thus, the researcher shall spend his or her working hours mainly on research but will be also responsible for the technical and administrative day-to-day management. The appointment may also include teaching, when there is a need within the organization, to facilitate the researcher to acquire qualifications for a teaching appointment at the University. The share of teaching may not exceed 20 percent of a full-time position.
Qualifications
Those qualified for appointment as a postdoctoral researcher are applicants who have been awarded a doctoral degree in a subject matter relevant for the position (Chemistry or in related subject areas) or have a degree from abroad deemed to correspond to a doctoral degree. The degree is to have been awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline. If special grounds exist, a person who has been awarded their doctoral degree prior to that should also be considered. Such grounds comprise leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, clinical practice, positions of trust in a trade union or other similar circumstances.

Particular attention is to be paid to the applicant's prospects of contributing to the future development of both research and education. Importance is also attached to a demonstrated ability and ambition to embark on a career within academia.
The researcher should have a strong background in the field of analytical chemistry and in metabolomics. The successful candidate should have experience in on LC-MS and GC-MS techniques with experience of both targeted and non-targeted analyses. Ideally, the candidate would have knowledge of lipidomics/metabolomics/biochemistry/environmental analyses as well as practical experience in advanced MS techniques using high resolution MS. Experience of data analysis and statistical methods is of advantage. Good oral and written communication skills in English are mandatory. General assessment criteria include good interpersonal skills and an ability to cooperate in an interdisciplinary environment and be able to work in a team.
