Linnæus University Centre for Intermedial and Multimodal Studies was established in 2015 as a centre of excellence at Linnæus University, Sweden.

Linnaeus University Centre for Intermedial and Multimodal Studies (IMS) is an interdisciplinary research centre that studies the relationships and interactions between media (https://lnu.se/en/research/searchresearch/linnaeus-university-centre-for-intermedial-and-multimodal-studies/)

IMS is located at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and chiefly concerns the disciplines of literature, media and communication, linguistics, music, film and visual studies. The research environment principally explores four broad dimensions of intermediality and multimodality: narration, meaning, learning and interaction.

The Centre is now announcing an international postdoctoral position, financed by the Crafoord Foundation, which is open for scholars with a focus on intermedial and multimodal studies and with a disciplinary background related to any of the faculty's departments (https://medarbetare.lnu.se/en/medarbetare/organisation?l=en)

Extent and period: Two years full-time, 2018-2019

Context of position
The primary responsibility is to conduct research. The applicant is expected to contribute to the development of the centre through research and publications within areas defined by the centre, participate in seminars and other activities of the centre, and collaborate with other scholars and graduate students within the centre. More specifically, the applicant shall work within the research program "Communication across Media Borders: The Limitations and Possibilities of Transmediation" (https://lnu.se/en/research/searchresearch/forskningsprojekt/project-communication-across-media-borders/).

A maximum of 20 % of the time may be dedicated to teaching and administration.

Qualification requirements
Qualified for appointment are those who hold a PhD, or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD, and who have completed their degree no more than seven years prior to the application deadline. Applicants must not previously have been employed as a postdoctoral fellow for more than a year in the same or related subject areas at Linnaeus University. Applicants should have developed research projects specifically in the area of intermedial and multimodal studies. Experience from developing research projects and from cooperation in interdisciplinary networks is an advantage, as well as international experience and documented skills in cooperation, teamwork and university level teaching. A preliminary research plan must be attached to the application (five pages in English). The results of the postdoctoral research are furthermore expected to be published in English.

Assessment criteria
The most important criteria for assessing the applicants are the quality of research publications and the proposed research project, and furthermore the applicant's potential for a successful career as a teacher and researcher.Documented skills in cooperation and teamwork will also be valued.
