Context of position
The working tasks consist mainly of research within the Computational Chemistry and Biochemistry group (CCBG), Department of Chemistry and Biomedical Science. The research project deals with understanding of drug resistance in cancer at the molecular level. You will use computer simulations and experiments at the protein and cell level to study variations in proteins that are important to the development of tumour cells that become drug resistant. In your job you are expected to actively participate in the department's environment and network both internally and externally.
20 % of the work can include teaching and tutoring at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Qualification requirements
Qualified for appointment is the one who holds a PhD, or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD, and who have completed their degree no more than three years before the application deadline.Applicants must not have previously been employed as a postdoctoral fellow for more than a year in the same or related subject area at Linnaeus University.
To be eligible for this position is also required to be fluent in oral and written English. Proven record of peer reviewed publications in internationally renowned journals within the subject is also a requirement.
Assessment criteria
The candidate should have obtained a Ph. D. in chemistry, biochemistry or a related subject. He or she should also have the ability to perform independent research, but also work as part of a group.
The following are considered as an advantage when applying for the position:
• Experience in protein chemistry
• Experience in working with cell cultures. Experience with Ba/F3 cells is especially desired
• Working knowledge of biomolecular modelling and simulations
