We have the power of over 40,000 students and co-workers. Students who provide hope for the future. Co-workers who contribute to Linköping University meeting the challenges of the day. Our fundamental values rest on credibility, trust and security. By having the courage to think freely and innovate, our actions together, large and small, contribute to a better world. We look forward to receiving your application!
The Wallenberg Launchpad (WALP)-funded research group in the division of Materials Design is seeking a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our team working on a cutting-edge project focused on the development of a pilot system for the mass production of advanced photocatalyst powders. This project aims to advance the field of photocatalysis for sustainable water purification and energy conversion, addressing critical global challenges. You will play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing this pilot system, contributing to a breakthrough in the scalable production of high-performance photocatalytic materials.

Work assignments
Your primary responsibility is to develop the pilot synthetic system for the mass production of photocatalyst powder. This includes the design, construction, testing, and optimization of the system. Automation of the system using programming is a significant aspect of the work. You will also be responsible for:

• Analyzing the structural properties of the synthesized photocatalyst powders using various characterization techniques, such as SEM, TEM, XRD, and XPS.
• Coupling the produced photocatalyst powders with 2D co-catalysts to enhance their catalytic performance.
• Evaluating the photocatalytic activity of the developed materials for water purification, as well as for energy conversion applications such as water splitting and CO2 reduction.
• Collaborating with other team members in academia and industry and contributing to research publications and practical implementation of the technology.

As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.

Qualifications
To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.

It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree is no older than three years at application deadline for this job. If there are special reasons for having an older doctoral degree - such as taking statutory leave - then these may be taken into consideration.

We are looking for someone with a doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a closely related field, with a strong background in photocatalysis and engineering. Experience in the design, construction, and operation of pilot-scale reactors/equipment is advantageous. Specific entry requirements include demonstrated hands-on experience with building and troubleshooting experimental setups. Proficiency in English is mandatory.

We also think you have experience and knowledge in the characterization of nanomaterials, particularly photocatalysts. Proven programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW) for automation and data analysis are highly meritorious. Experience with photocatalytic water purification, water splitting, or CO2 reduction is advantageous.

You are a highly motivated and independent researcher with a strong problem-solving aptitude and a proactive approach to research challenges. You are also a team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively within a multidisciplinary research environment. You possess a meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to producing high-quality research outputs.
