The PhD-student position will be placed at Faculty of Health and Society. In order to be considered for appointment as a doctoral student, the applicant must be accepted or have already been accepted for doctoral studies. The research topic is “Biomedical technology� (BMT) and the Faculty examine Doctors of Philosophy (i.e, in swedish: Teknologie doktor, Filosofie doktor, Doktor i medicinsk vetenskap and Medicine doktor).
The doctoral students will have the opportunity to take part in teaching at the undergraduate level, however, according to regulations, teaching and administrative work is limited to a maximum of 20% of working hours. Provisions on appointment as a doctoral student are laid out in the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, Sections 1-7.
When making the appointment, under Chapter 5, Section 5 of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, consideration must be given to the student’s ability to benefit from doctoral studies.
Tasks
The topic of this project is hydration of the mucous gel. The PhD-student will investigate how hydration changes structural, dynamical, rheological, transport and surface properties of the mucous gel. The PhD-student will carry out experimental studies of effects of humidity on properties of mucous gel using physical, chemical and biological methods and techniques.
The applicant should have a Master degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmacy, or corresponding experience. In ranking the applicants, particular emphasis will be placed on knowledge and experience in physical chemistry, surface chemistry and biochemistry. Ability to communicate in English, orally as well as in writing, is also highly valued.
