The position is in the subject Engineering Sciences with specialization in Electronics at the Ångström Laboratory, Department of Engineering Sciences, Division of Solid State Electronics.
The research aims at developing high-performance flexible thermoelectric devices. The research will be conducted in close collaboration with material scientists and engineers in Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Research topic: The rapid development of wearable electronics and Internet-Of-Things has generated high demand on flexible TE devices as power supply. The research activities of the PhD candidate filling the announced opening will be centred around design, fabrication and characterisation of high-performance flexible thermoelectric devices. Device fabrication, materials analysis and electrical characterisation will mainly be carried out using Ångström clean-room facilities as well as the state-of-the-art electrical characterisation laboratory of the Division of Solid-State Electronics. A major challenge is the device integration on flexible substrates.
Qualifications required: Successful candidates should have a master of science in physics, chemistry, materials science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Candidates with a bachelor degree, with at least 240 ECTS, in one of the aforementioned disciplines can also be considered, but in such a case the student must have demonstrated exceptional records in university learning.
